On Wednesday night Apple held their annual Keynote event where they announced the release of their upcoming products and what they can do. This year there were a lot of rumours surrounding what Apple would release and a lot of them were right but we will give you the rundown of the main things that were announced.
Apple Watch Series 4
The first thing to be announced was the new Apple Watch Series 4. The new watch will have a 32-35% larger screen and has been made thinner. It will also come in 40mm and 44mm sizes. The Series 4 has a dual core 64-bit S4 chip making it 2 times faster than the previous model. As well as this the speaker is now 50% louder. Another great thing announced about it was the heart sensor which will now allow people to take an ECG to analyse their heart rate. The new sensors in the device also allow it to detect a fall. The new watch will come in 3 colours, silver, gold and space grey. The Series 4 is available to buy from 21/09/18 and will be priced from £399.
The first of the new iPhones to be announced was the iPhone XS. The XS features the ‘most durable glass in a smartphone’ along with a super retina OLED display with a 5.8-inch screen. The iPhone XS is also equipped with the new A12 Bionic chip. This device has a dual 12MP telephoto camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera on the rear, and a 7MP front camera. The new camera now has advanced depth control, true tone flash, red-eye reduction, smart HDR and a great portrait mode. The XS will also have a 30 minute longer battery life and comes in either 64GB, 256GB and 516GB. The device is available to buy on the 21/09/18 from £999.
iPhone XS Max
The other device introduced was the iPhone XS Max. This will have everything that the XS has except the XS Max will have a huge 6.5-inch screen, the biggest screen on an iPhone yet. The only other difference with this phone is that you get an extra 90 minutes of battery life from the original iPhone X. This phone is available from 21/09/18 and will be priced from £1,099.
The third iPhone announced was the iPhone XR, the cheapest of the 3 phones in the top tier. So if you don’t fancy spending over £1000 on the new devices this might be the one for you. This iPhone will come in 6 colours; white, black, blue, coral, yellow and red. The iPhone XR will have the ‘most advanced LCD display’. Apple is calling this technology ‘Liquid Retina’.The iPhone XR will have an edge to edge display with a 6.1-inch screen and 1.4 million pixels making it an even larger display than the iPhone 8 Plus. Also in this device, there will be the new bionic A12 chip, a 12MP wide-angle camera and has 90 minutes of battery life more than the iPhone 8 Plus. The XR will come in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. It will be available to buy from 26/10/18 and will be priced from £749.
So, what did you think of what Apple announced at the Keynote? Overall, there was a lot of what we all expected from the event. However, the changes to the Apple Watch Series 4 could be very useful for all ages and is very revolutionary with it including the ECG machine. Will you be buying any of the products announced?
