Nowadays customers want to be able to use their software and access their data no matter where they are and what they are doing. Until recently the limitation of using a mobile phone for this was lack of functionality, slow data rates, and poor screens. This has changed and the new generation of smartphones provide a slick platform to deliver complex software that just wasn't achievable a few years ago. This is done using native Apps available through the various phones App stores.
At Appware we use a cross platform development environment for building native mobile phone applications and can distribute mobile apps to multiple devices including iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry, WebOS, and Symbian; whilst utilising all the native features of the individual handset.
Using this environment we can save lots of time (and therefore your money!) as we typically share 80% of the code across all platforms. In real terms, if an App were to cost £5,000 for each platform then to have it for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry may be £15,000 and take 3 months to develop. Using our system then it would be nearer £7,000 and 5 weeks.
